No, this isn’t about a recent random act of something under the auspice of civil rights. But a real verified civil rights pioneer.
There’s an untold story of Ruth, a young, single black woman, fair enough to ‘pass’. She participated in the lunch counter sit-ins of the sixties. Even that’s not the most interesting part. She inadvertently integrated the jails of the south after her arrest. She was sent from jail to jail in order to evade release paid for by the NAACP.
The story will hopefully be told soon as I just hooked up a writer with Ms. Ruth. It’s a great story to come!
